Types of Deadlocks for Doors
Hook bolt deadlocks are used on storefronts with narrow stiles made of aluminum sliding doors to enhance security and strength of the lock. They are double-keyed to give greater flexibility in access control.

Tubular Latch

A tubular latch is a rectangular steel casing fitted with a latch bolt and a spring-loaded latch follower (also known as a striker). When you open the door, the latch retracts allowing you to lock and shut the door. When you shut the door, the latch bolt will then spring back to catch the edge of the frame and close the door.
If you're installing a tubular latch, you'll need to decide how high you want the latch to rest on the door. Many people believe that a lock and handle should be placed at a height of one millimetre above the floor. But this isn't always the case. When door knobs are concerned, the latch should be located in the middle of the rail - this is where the majority of the weight is shifted when you open and close the door.
Note the location of the hole in the door. Then, strike the plate with a pen after you have determined where the latch should be. Then, drill pilot holes to the screws that will secure the plate to the door. When you've drilled these using a countersink tool, you'll need to ensure that the plate's back sits flush with the door when it's screwed in place.

After you've secured the latch to the door, you'll need to fit a strike plate to the frame. The strike plate is the part that is placed in the gap left by the latch after it is closed. Mark the area where you'd like to put the strike plate on the frame section surrounding it. Then, use the knife to make an area that is square for the plate and remove it.
Cylindrical Latch
Interior doors are usually fitted with cylindrical locks. They are commonly found in homes and offices and have many different applications. Cylindrical locks function similarly to mortise lock systems but are much easier and faster to install. hook locks for doors do not require an "mortise" or pocket be cut into the door's frame like mortise locks do. When replacing a cylindrical lock make sure to make use of the right tools to remove the handle of the old lock or knob and latch bolt. Mark the location of the new latch bolt and strike on the door and frame after removal of the old hardware. Key-Locked Lock
